DAME EVELYN ELIZABETH ANN GLENNIE (BORN 1965) IS A SCOTTISH PERCUSSIONIST. SHE WAS THE FIRST FULL-TIME SOLO PERCUSSIONIST IN 20TH CENTURY WESTERN SOCIETY. GLENNIE IS PROFOUNDLY DEAF SINCE AGE 12.

SHE REGULARY PLAY BAREFOOT FOR BOTH LIVE PERFORMANCES AND STUDIOS RECORDINGS TO BETTER FEEL THE SOUNDS. SHE CONTENDS THAT DEAFNESS IS LARGELY MISUNDERSTOOD BY THE PUBLIC.
